Remember Where You Are

The Laramie Treaty

The Laramie treaty of 1851 was a division of land between many of the Plains Tribes by the settlers and westerns. The treaty was a failure almost immediately with many of the tribes erupting in war because of the incorrect distribution of land. Also, many tribes were forced off of their own land, that was given to them in a treaty, and made to move to other states such as the Arapaho and Southern Cheyenne moving to land in Oklahoma. Remember where our university stands and how it got here. Remember the people who once owned this land and had it taken from them. #DecolonizeDU
